The Courses

The Plant Course

The Plant Course from The Plant SchoolThis is one of the two core courses for The Plant School and is based at The Garden Museum, Lambeth Palace Road, London, with days at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and The Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park.

The course aims to give the student a good grounding in plant knowledge and runs one day a month through the academic year. It is ideal for enthusiasts who although they have other interests are committed to learning more about plants. Visiting lecturers talk on their specific subjects and there are practical plant visits.

No prior qualifications are required for this course.

The Specialist Plant Course

The Specialist Plant Course from The Plant SchoolThis course aims to provide a deeper understanding of current planting ideas and plant combinations. A high proportion of the days on this course involve visits to well established gardens and plant collections.

National plant collections and notable private gardens are visited to look at both the plant species and the many cultivars available to garden designers and gardeners.

Each visit is hosted by either holders of plant collections, garden and nursery owners or head gardeners who share their knowledge on their plants.

The Tree Course

The Tree Course from The Plant SchoolThe Tree Course is now firmly established as the second core educational course for The Plant School. Mark Flanagan, Keeper of the Savill and Valley Gardens, Tony Kirkham, Head of The Arboretum, The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and Susyn Andrews, who has 30 years experience working at the Herbarium, Kew lecture on the course.

This unique course introduces the student to a deeper understanding of trees. It runs one day a month and is aimed at enthusiasts who although they have other interests are committed to learn more about trees. It is be based in Central London with lectures and exclusive visits at the Savill and Valley Gardens and at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

The Plant Course in Paris

The Plant Course in Paris from The Plant SchoolThe Plant Course in Paris is based at the Jardin des Plantes with days at the Arboretum de Chevreloup, Versailles.

The Plamt Course in Paris from The Plant School features visiting lecturers includng Christopher Ireland-Jones, who specializes in bulbs and is a long time gold medal winner at The Chelsea Flower Show, and Marina Christopher, owner of Phoenix Perennial Plants.
