Nurturing and developing
a deep understanding of plants
The Plant School
The aim of the school is to nurture and develop a deep understanding of plants
If you like plants and gardening why not visit Capital Gardens?
Welcome to The Plant School
The Plant School is concerned with all things ‘plants’ and not on the more general term of ‘gardening’. It is specifically involved with the understanding of how plants grow, the conditions they prefer as seen in their natural environment and how they interact with their surrounding environment. It draws together specialists, including Roy Lancaster and Carol Klein, on their plant subjects for the benefit of The Plant School students.
The prospective student needs no qualifications, just a passion for plants. The Plant School is especially suitable for the keen plant enthusiast or those wishing to make a career change who would like to know more about plants and gardening.
Successful students from The Plant School go into the fields of garden design, plant photography, writing and the media where there are some notable successes. Some students continue to follow their plant interest in their own gardens, opening them to the public under various schemes and growing plants for sale. A great many students keep in touch and it is often possible to help them to find work in their chosen area of interest.
The Plant School is run by Rosemary Campbell-Preston B.Sc.(Hons) and it is based in Chelsea, five minutes from the Chelsea Physic Garden and Sloane Square Tube station. Courses at The Plant School are designed for those who are able to give one full day a month.
