The Plant Course
An introduction to plants
Students receive a basic grounding in plant knowledge. The course covers plant identification, plant families, flower structure, a history of plant collections, the best plant for the best place in your garden, and a look at national plant collections. Students are encouraged to use botanical plant names as stipulated by the Royal Horticultural Society.
The course runs over three terms, one day per month on a Thursday, a total of ten days. It commences in September. There will be a series of eight homeworks - students who complete the homework to a satisfactory standard will be eligible for a Certificate at the end of the course. Students successfully completing this course will be able to move on to the Specialist Plant Course and will get preferential places for the Plant Tours.
