The Specialist Plant Course

For the student who already has a basic understanding of plants

This course is also based in Chelsea but a high proportion of days involve visits to well known gardens and plant collections to gain a deeper understanding of current planting ideas and plant combinations. National plant collections and notable private gardens of merit are visited to look at both the plant species and the many cultivars available to garden designers, and gardeners. Each visit is hosted by either holders of plant collections, garden owners and head gardeners who share their knowledge on their plants.

The course runs over three terms, one day per month on a Thursday, a total of ten days. It commences in September. Students who have successfully completed The Plant Course will be eligible for this course. Other students will be accepted dependant on their level of plant knowledge.There will be a series of eight homeworks, including botanical plant names - students who complete the homework to a satisfactory standard will be eligible for a Certificate of Merit at the end of the course.
